Chen Ping applied a lot of his painting works to the depiction of his dream-like and cloud-like homeland of Feiwa. His subject matter includes no lofty and magnificent sceneries, but is imbued with wild delight. Changing from complicated to simplistic, from sporadic to concentrated, from realistic to fantastical, from sophisticated to native, his structures display no traces of traditional treatment, but are permeated with modern ideas of graphic design. Reading his paintings is just like reading his dream, and will feel like being far away from the material world. Chen Ping also excels in composing classical poetries, lyrical verses, calligraphy and seal carving, and is fond of inscribing his paintings with poems and lyrical verses. While his poems and rhymes are composed on the basis of a refreshing and pure nature, his calligraphy adopts the treatment of "desolated" and "rugged" features, and his seals are carved with the typographic scripts of the Song dynasty. By reading this catalogue, one would find Chen Ping is a very creative middle aged artist.
